Scale-Up4Rehab

The Interreg NWE Scale-Up4Rehab project is a five-year initiative that aims to ensure equal access to rehabilitation care and strengthen the resilience of health systems in Northwestern Europe. The project will pioneer the digitalization of the rehabilitation sector by creating an open virtual rehabilitation 'clinic' and scaling up existing virtual rehabilitation therapies. Five regional pilots serve as showcases in which rehabilitation professionals integrate virtual rehabilitation in various care environments.

Remco Hoogendijk from the lead partner Sint Maartenskliniek emphasizes the unequal access to rehabilitation and the potential of technology to provide efficient care, regardless of the patient's location. The project recognizes the growing demand for rehabilitation due to the aging population and the shortage of healthcare personnel. Partners, including rehabilitation clinics, universities and innovation networks, are joining forces to achieve this ambitious goal. The project involves transnational collaboration to leverage economies of scale and promote the digital transformation of the rehabilitation sector. In addition, associated organizations are involved to monitor the project and contribute to its success.

Various partners, including rehabilitation clinics, university medical centers, universities and innovation networks, are joining forces to realize the objectives of the project. In addition, there are also associated organizations involved in the project.

Objective

In Germany, considerable expertise has been built up in the effective application of virtual reality for rehabilitation, pain management and other purposes in healthcare. Although many applications are already in regular use, there has not yet been a real breakthrough. The Scale-Up4Rehab project aims to join forces of 13 project partners from 6 different countries to realize this breakthrough. The ultimate goal is to establish a virtual rehabilitation clinic, where healthcare providers and patients can undergo targeted virtual treatments at any desired place and time. This platform serves as a means to make high-quality and validated virtual or blended therapies available. Companies will benefit because marketing, sales and service can be partly integrated with other partners.

This project will address the barriers to scale-up and accelerate the adoption of these innovative interventions in Northwestern Europe, increasing equal access to care. In this way we take the digital transformation of the rehabilitation sector to a higher level.
